The Citizens for Fostoria is working with the Clay County Conservation Board to obtain a grant from the Iowa Living Roadway Trust Fund Program to plant a diverse number of native flowers and grasses in an area that forms the Entry into Fostoria off of Highway 71.

Fostoria has been granted funds to plant a Prairie Garden on Main Street and to plant Prairie flowers in the area between Hwy 71 and the frontage road.  Project should be completed by November 2004.

On August 16, 2003 the first community project Citizens for Fostoria tackled was weeding and replanting the flower display in the City Park. Weeds were pulled, plants were donated and planted!  It was a wonderful success!  Workers met at 10am and were even joined by a few residents that really just stopped to pick-up their mail! We had lots of laughs, but most importantly we completed our first effort to begin the beautification of Fostoria!
