Brother CS6000i Computerized Sewing Machine - A Review You Must Read!

I am a rookie sewer and so I've got to point out that I couldn't be more happy about my brother CS6000i. I read the entire directions, which were incredibly easy to follow coupled with understandable ımages to go with each individual movement. I connect everything in and away I went with sewing my very first tote. Some top qualities I adore are...the protection on the bobbin is actually transparent, so you're able to determine precisely how much you have got left(my MIL's sewing machine don't even have this, so its a bonus for me, considering the fact that her's was the very first sewing machine I used).

Due to the fact I am unfamiliar with sewing I have not truly got a proper feel for exactly how much amount of force to place on the pedal when I start sewing....(i have a propensity to go sloooow) And so having the ability to determine the speed for the unit to slow and not simply make it go at a higher speed regardless of how hard I step on thepedal is a good feature for me.

I additionally enjoy the simple fact that it's not at all mandatory to hit the foot pedal to start using reverse. All you want to perform is to hold the button and it will operate by itself. You can merely hold the switch it and it'll go on its own. The actual LED light is fine and bright, enabling you to take a look at just exactly what you're carrying out work on.

Some things that could need enhancement.

It might be awesome in case the Liquid crystal display display screen was lite up....

The "storage compartment" really is just some vacant space which simply occurred to be marked "storage compartment". It would be greater and much more well-designed if it slide out similar to a drawer.

The protection cover that is provided with the appliance, runs simply as it ought to....nevertheless(and possibly this really is merely me) it would be pleasant if there was some space in the styrofoam(there's a layer of styrofoam glued into the top of the cover) for a spool of line, so the protection cover can be put on the Brother CS6000i while there is a spool on the spool pin.

Also probably it just requires even more wear...but my needle threader kinda gets stuck now and again....and no, I am not using thicker line or even the unsuitable needle...

Until now I have not put into use some of the elaborate stitches...but I'll get around to it. A very important factor which did make an impression on me has been exactly how effectively the appliance did once I put (medium/heavy weight) fabric which was already folded three times thru it. It didn't have any kind of troubles going right over the thick fabric.

Altogether there's no doubt that the Brother cs6000i is great for any beginner.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Sewing Machines -- Can a complete idiot learn how to use one?

for years, i've been making new, eclectic/funky fashions from vintage clothing. things like altering hems, removing sleeves and collars from one item and attaching them to another, etc. since i have zero skills, i've always used pins, ties, irons, glue, tape, staples (lol, seriously), etc.

i have *no clue* how to use a sewing machine for anything other than making a straight line. am i kidding myself here, or is there a decent chance that i could figure out how to do this on my own? how did you learn?

i was thinking of buying this one:

thanks for any advice you can offer.

Answer:

I don't think you're a complete idiot at all... you've managed to figure out a lot of mechanical stuff already!

Most sewing is just straight lines anyway, but sometimes a zigzag line works better or you might need to stretch the fabric as you sew (for t-shirts and other knits) or you'll need to "ease" the stitching into a curved area like an armhole, etc.

I definitely suggest too that you join Craftster.org (free) and check out some of their sewing related boards and sub-boards. You can get tutorials, lots of inspiration, ask question or just discuss making "funky" clothing, and all kinds of other things, and the members there are mostly young women. In fact, some of them making clothing or "sew" in the same ways you do (by hand, or using other helpers).

Here's Craftster's main page for all their craft "Forums"...check out at least the boards listed below:

http://www.craftster.org/forum

...Clothing (especially perhaps the "Reconstructed" Clothing sub-boards)
...Sewing in General (sewing basics and sewing machines)
...Bags, Purses, etc
AND MAYBE ALSO:
...Home Sweet Home
...Toys, Dolls, Playthings
